An Artsi Indie Film Fundraiser

With a little help from my friends…we can support the Philadelphia arts community. On Friday, March 11th Artsi is partnering with Philadelphia-based filmmaker Emily Dabney to put on a fundraiser to support her next short film venture going into production Summer of 2022. Creating art requires time, talent, but also financial resources & Artsi (along with some friends = YOU) is excited to stand behind the creation of local art. Evening will feature a series of short films from fellow filmmakers, followed by short Q&As with the artists. Space will also be transformed into a gallery displaying art for sale from local artists. Event is BYOB, with light concessions provided.

**100% of the profits will be going towards supporting Emily Dabney's upcoming short film**

Additional Donations can be sent via Venmo @Emily-Dabney-1

Featured short films:

🎥 STRAIGHT HEMS: An odd night at the dry cleaners…Gideon brings his suit in for alterations, unaware of the bizarre series of events that lay ahead. All to look fly.

🎥 GÖŁF : A novice golfer takes to the driving range determined to hone his craft.

🎥 THE ASTRONOMER: Inspired by the Walt Whitman poem "When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer", this silent film explores themes of self-actualization and exploration. Set in 1916, the film is inspired by the Bohemian culture that emerged during the late Victorian period and features rich imagery, ornate costumes, and a sweeping musical score. In the film, a young student -- fighting boredom during her astronomy class -- is met by a band of mystical gypsies who invite her to explore the night sky. She comes to discover that she learns more about the universe through her own exploration than she ever could inside the classroom.

🎥 **BEING YOU: Ellie walks in on her partner during a private moment and asks her friend what to do next.

🎥 **NUMBER ONE SYNOPSIS: Mae agrees to an open relationship with her free-spirited lover, but the goal of getting closer to him doesn't really go as planned.

🎥 ALL THE GOOD SECRETS SYNOPSIS: All the Good Secrets is a collaboration between Emily Dabney and Frankie Halbiger. Created in the darkest days of the pandemic, October 202, Emily and Frankie decided to have some fun and play around with Frankie's experimental film process. Little did they know they would become conjurers and conduits for the darkness of the time period. Emily delivers a performance of sincerity, innocence, and unhinged mania.

🎥 Mel: Two men suspect that they are dating the same girl, so they make a plan to catch her in the act.

🎥 Those Who Hesitate: The dating world is a battlefield, and two people are learning about it first hand.

**Film contains profanity and sexually explicit content.

Meet the artists

Emily Dabney is an Event Marketing Professional who loves to make movies. She has written, produced and directed two short films with the hopes of making a third. Thus far, Emily's stories have focused on sex, love and relationships. (Having once been likened to a modern Candace Bushnell!) She is comfortable writing about the uncomfortable and wishes to see where the exploration of these stories takes her.

Luke Cuccurullo:

Luke was a professional engineer for a decade before deciding to follow his artistic passion and transitioning to a full time photographer. Luke enjoys capturing the feel of city while traveling. The aspect Luke enjoys most about this new career is giving people confidence through photos of themselves.

Alexander Harris: Howdy, my name is Alex Harris! Growing up I developed a compulsion to watch movies that I would later realize was a bit abnormal. I could watch 3 or 4 a day If I could get my homework done fast enough. I found myself particularly drawn to contemporary noir films like LA Confidential and Mulholland Drive. Their depictions of romanticism, betrayal, distortion, and voyeurism are themes I try to explore in my own work. Currently, I am based in Glendale, California where I'm shooting a short film and working for the amazing Elena Kulikova.
